          This instruction will show you how to install the Animo OptiMe espresso machine.

          Attention! Installation must be carried out by an authorized Animo dealer. Your dealer will install your coffee machine and carry out the initial commissioning process.

          Before you start 

          Carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

          Intended use of the appliance

          Animo appliances are exclusively designed for producing hot drinks. Accompanying accessories such as milk coolers and cup warmers are intended to be used adjacent to the appliances. All Animo appliances are intended to be installed and used indoors. All appliances are intended to be used in households and similar applications such as:

          • Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments
          • Farm houses
          • By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments
          • Bed and breakfast type environments
          • Catering and similar non-retail applications 

          All appliances must be installed, used and maintained as described in the accompanying manuals. Only use the appliance if it is in a perfect mechanical condition and only for the purpose for which it is intended.

          SAFETY

          Before use, check the Animo appliances for completeness and damage. Damage must be repaired by Animo, Its dealer or other qualified professionals.

          • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
          • Children shall not play with the appliance.
          • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
          • All users have to understand the hazards involved in using this appliance.

          Parts of the appliance may become very hot during use. Do not touch these parts.

        • TECHNICAL DATA

          The OptiMe is designed to process whole coffee beans, powder that is suitable for automatic devices and fresh milk for models equipped with a fresh milk module.

        • Before you start:

          1. Animo recommends to use a water filter (Article No. 99671). Make sure you have one available.
          2. Make sure that the surface on which the OptiMe is placed, can hold at least 50 kg.
          3. Make sure that a 230 V AC power supply is available with a capacity of at least 2.5 kW.

          Attention! Only use original Animo hose-sets provided with the new machine and/or the new water filter. Do not use old hoses.

        • Remove the protective foil from the machine.

        • Place the machine on a firm, flat surface.

          Note: Make sure there is enough space above the OptiMe to allow heat to escape and to fill the canisters.

          Minimum clearances:

          • To the rear panel: 50 mm.
          • Above: 180 mm. (for filling the canisters)

        • Connect the water filter to the OptiMe.

          Requirements of the water supply:

          • Water pressure: 0.2 - 1.0 MPa (2-10 bar)
          • Flow rate: > 1L/min.
          • Water temperature: <25°C

          Only use the supplied hose set when establishing the water connection.

          Water quality:

          • Total hardness: 3 - 5° dH, 70 - 100 ppm
          • Carbonate hardness: 3-6 ° kH
          • Chloride content (CI): 0 - 50 ppm
          • Chlorine content: 0 - 0,1 ppm
          1. Connect the water filter to the main water tap. 
          2. Set the filter by-pass to the water hardness of the local water tap point. See the water filter manual for instructions.
          1. Place the grid on the drip tray.
          2. Place the drip tray in the machine.
        • Do you want to connect the drip tray to a drain?

          Then follow: Connect the drip tray to a drain 

        • Place the cup tray grid. 

          Firmly press the grid on the tray untill it is fixed.

        • Stick the canister labels for your configuration on the bean- and instant canisters.

          Stick the same labels in the back of the machine.

          For example: regular coffee beans, expresso beans, dark roast beans and creamer, chocolatte or sugar.

          For special products, contact your dealer.

        • Connect the OptiMe to an earthed power socket..

        • Switch on the machine

        • Your OptiMe is installed and ready to use.

          Do you have a cup heater or fresh milk fidge? Then continue with: 

          Install the Cup Warmer or 

          Install the Milk Cooler. 

      • Connect the drip tray to a drain

        • If you want to connect the drip tray to a drain you need the accessory drain hose (article No. 1007650).

          Attention! Installation must be carried out by an authorized Animo dealer.

        • Get the drip tray from the machine.

        • At the back of the drip tray: Punch out the perforated part for the liquid drain.

        • Open the drain hose outlet on the back of the OptiMe.

        • Connect the drain hose to the drip tray connection.

        • Feed the drain hose to your waste water drain.

      • Drain kit OptiMe with smart connection

        • Instruction for drain kit with smart connection for drip tray to drain pipe, 1.5 m. Article No.: 1010082

        • Check the contents of the package: 

          - Compression spring 

          - Bolt  

          - Plastic cap 

          - Plastic component 

          - Rubber hose 

        • Take the drip tray from the machine.

        • At the back of the drip tray: Punch out the perforated part for the liquid drain.

          Attention: Note that the opening must be burr-free. if not, remove the burrs with a knife or sandpaper.

        • Open the drain hose outlet on the back of the OptiMe.

        • When standing in front of the machine, tilt the machine backwards

        • Attention: Be careful not to cut your hand on the sharp edges of the machine.

          Turn the black ring a little to the right and pull it towards you. The ring will come off.

        • Attention: Be careful not to cut your hand on the sharp edges of the machine.

          Put the plastic cube behind the steel plate. Secure the plastic cube to the machine with the two screws.

        • Connect the drain hose to the drip tray connection.

          Attention: The hose on the picture deviates from reality.

        • Connect the drain hose to your waste water drain.

          Attention: Make sure to place the drain hose at a downwards angle and the end of the hose is not submerged in water, so that the hose drains properly.

        • Push in the plastic component at the back of the drip tray.

          Attention: push it in just as shown in the picture.

        • Push the bolt through the spring. 

        • Push the bolt with the spring through the hole at the back.

        • Connect the rubber ring and the plastic bolt with each other.

        • Screw the plastic cap on the front of the drip tray onto the bolt.

        • Use the wrench 7mm and hex key to tighten the bolt.

        • Place the drip tray back in the machine.

        • You are done.

      • Fill the OptiMe

        • Before you start:

          • Carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.
          • Wash your hands thoroughly.
          • Make sure you do not touch the beans or instant products with your hands.
        • To fill the OptiMe with coffee beans:

          Read the required bean type from label on the back of the machine.

          1. Remove the lid of the bean canister.
          2. Fill the bean canister with the required beans.
        • To fill the OptiMe with instant product(s):

          1. Open the OptiMe door
          2. Lift the cover
        • Turn the outlets of the instant canisters upwards.

        • Remove the instant canister from the OptiMe by lifting it and pulling it forward. 

          1. Read the required instant product from label  
          2. Open the lid of the canister
          3. Fill the instant canister(s) with the required product. 

          Attention! Use only powder that is suitable for automatic coffee machines

        • Place the instant canister back in the machine.

          Attention: Make sure that the canister connects to the rotor on the back and falls into the hole on the front 

        • Turn the canister’s outlet downwards into the mixer cup.

        • Close the door.

          The OptiMe is now filled and ready to serve drinks. 

      • Start using the OptiMe

        • Before you start using the OptiMe:

          • Carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.
          • Make sure the OptiMe is connected to the mains power.
          • Make sure the OptiMe is filled (see Fill the OptiMe)

          SAFETY

          • Children must be supervised not to play with the appliance.
          • Cleaning and user maintenance may must not be done performed by children.
          • All users have to understand the hazards involved in using this appliance. 
          • In the appliances where hot drinks are produced, do not touch the dispensing outlets during and immediately after dispensing.
          • Make sure that a suitable container, cup or mug is placed under the dispensing outlet before use.
          • Be aware that steam is used during the coffee making process. Make sure you keep distance to avoid contact with steam. The steam might cause severe burns. 
          • Parts of the appliance may become very hot during use. Do not touch these parts.
        • Place a cup below the outlet before selecting your coffee product.

        • Use the touchscreen to select a recipe and dispense the beverage.

        • Check whether the taste and quantity is as desired.

          If the taste or quantity is not as desired, inform your dealer.

        • Repeat the previous steps for every recipe to ensure all recipes are as desired.

          If the taste or quantity is not as desired, inform your dealer.

        • To place a glass or thermos jug below the outlet:

          1. Lower the adjustable cup tray by pushing it down
          2. Rotate the cup tray and fix the cup tray with a click
          3. Place the glass or thermos jug.
        • Tea water can be obtained from the right outlet.

      • OptiMe daily cleaning

        •  

          This instruction shows the steps for daily cleaning:

          • Empty and clean the waste container and trays.
          • Clean the coffee machine

          Before you start, carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

        • Remove the drip tray.

        • Remove the cup tray grid.

          1. Clean the parts with a mild cleaner
          2. Rinse the parts thoroughly
          3. Dry all parts
        • Clean the cup tray with a damp cloth.

        • Open the machine with the key.

        • Remove the waste container.

        • Empty, clean and rinse the waste container.

        • Remove the outlet cover:

          1. lift the tab on the inside of the machine.

          2. Pull the outlet cover out from the door

        • Clean and rinse the outlet.

        • Place all parts back in the machine.

        • Clean the back cover behind the cup tray with a damp cloth.

          If you have accessories like a cup warmer or Milk Cooler, then clean them with a damp cloth as well.

        • The machine is now ready to use.

          If you have a Milk Cooler continue with Fresh Milk system cleaning before refill .

      • OptiMe weekly cleaning

        •  

          This instruction shows the steps for weekly cleaning:

          • Clean the ingredient mixer parts
          • Clean the bean supply parts and grinder

          Before you start, carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

        • On the touchscreen: Select the machine menu ☰ 

        • Select CLEAN MACHINE.

          The steps on the screen will guide you through the cleaning procedure. 

        • Open the machine with the key.

        • Open the lid.

          1. Turn the canister outlets upwards.
          2. Remove the outlets from the instant canisters.
        • Remove the instant canisters by lifting them and pulling it forward.

        • Turn the mounting ring counterclockwise to unlock the mixer bowl.

        •  

          Remove the mixer bowl.

        • Remove the hose from the mixer bowl.

        • Remove the hose and coffee splitter

        • Remove the coffee hose from the coffee splitter.

        • Remove the mixer fan.

          1. Turn the mounting ring further clockwise.
          2. Remove the mounting ring.
        • Remove the dust tray.

          1. Clean the parts with a mild cleaner
          2. Rinse the parts thoroughly
          3. Dry all parts
        • Clean the canister area using the brush.

        • Place the dust tray back.

          1. Carefully re-place the mouting ring.
          2. Lock the ring by rotating it clockwise.
        • Carfully position the mixer fan and press it firmly until it fits.

          1.  Attach the hoses to the coffee splitter. 
          2. Re-place the coffee splitter in its holder. 
        • Place the instant canister back in the machine.

          Make sure that the canister connects to the rotor on the back and falls into the hole on the front.

        • Rotate the canister outlets downwards into the mixer bowl.

        • Close the lid.

        • Remove the bean funnel.

        • Clean the funnel and the grinder entrance using the brush. 

        • Click the bean funnel back in its position.

        •  At this point the instruction on the screen may ask you to add a cleaning tablet to the brewer.  

          • If you are asked to add a cleaning tablet , continue with the next two steps.
          • Otherwise, skip the next two steps and continue to flush the machine.

          Note: cleaning the brewer is asked depending your previous cleaning history.

        • Get one cleaning tablet from the package.

          Caution: Only use cleaning tablets approved by Animo (Art. No. 1008750 ) and follow the protective instructions on the packaging.

        • Drop one cleaning tablet in the brewer. 

          1. Close the machine 
          2. Place an empty container below the outlet
          1. Tap next (→) to continue.
          2. Wait while the system cleans the machine. This will take about 5 minutes. 
          3. Tap next (→) to continue.
          1. Empty the waste water container 
          2. Clean the back cover behind the cup tray with a damp cloth.

          The machine is now ready to use.

      • OptiMe monthly cleaning

        • This instruction shows the steps for monthy cleaning:

          • Clean the instant canisters
          • Clean the bean canisters

          Before you start, carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

        • Open the door with the key.

        • Remove the instant canister(s) by lifting it and pulling it forward.

        • Pull the bean canister's slider forward to close the bean outlet.

          1. Remove the bean canister(s) by lifting it up.
          2.  Empty, clean and dry the bean canister(s).
        • Remove outlet of the instant canister(s).

        • Remove the ring that locks the auger, on the back side of the instant canister(s) 

        • Pull the auger out of the instant canister(s).

        • Clean all parts:

          • Auger
          • Inlet
          • Ring
          • Canister
        • Dry all parts.

        • Reassemble the canister parts.

        • In the machine, clean the area of the instant canister(s) and bean canister(s) using the brush.

          Note: The cleaning brush is found on the left side in the machine.

        • Place the bean canister(s) back in the machine. 

        • Push the bean canister's slider backward to open the bean outlet.

        • Fill the instant bean instant beans as indicated on their labels.  

        • Fill the instant canister(s) with instant product as indicated on their labels. 

          Attention! Use only powder that is suitable for automatic coffee machines

        • Place the instant canister back in the machine.
          Make sure that the canister connects to the rotor on the back and falls into the hole on the front.

        • Close the door.

          The OptiMe is now ready to use.

      • OptiMe Reinstallation

        • This instruction shows the steps for (re)using your machine after a long period of storage:

          • Clean the instant canisters
          • Clean the bean canisters
          • Clean machine.

          Before you start, carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

        • If your machine has been out of operation for several weeks / months, the contents of your instant canisters may be clumped if they were not preventively emptied during decommissioning: 

          We advise you to clean and to renew the content of the instant canisters.

        • Clean and renew the content of the the Bean canister(s).

        • Switch on the machine

        • Follow the instuctions "OptiMe daily cleaning "

        • On the front display select MENU to start.

        • Select CLEAN MACHINE

          Carefully follow all instructions shown on the screen.

          • Remove the protective foil.

          • Place the cup warmer on a flat surface

          • Connect the cup warmer to a 230 V mains power source with the provided power cable. 

            Attention: Make sure that the power cable does not come into contact with the cup warming tray which becomes very hot when in use.

          • Optionally: use magnets (accessory 1008139) to attach the cup warmer to the machine. 

            1. Switch on the trays with the front switches.
            2. Place dry cups upside down on the trays.

             

            Your Cup warmer is now installed and ready to use.

            In this instruction we will show you how to install the Animo Milk Cooler. The milk cooler may only be used to keep milk cool in combination with the Animo OptiMe coffee machine. 

            Attention! Installation must be carried out by an authorized Animo dealer. Your dealer will install your Milk Cooler together with your OptiMe coffee machine.

          •  Check the contents of the package:

            • Measuring cup

            • Ingredient box (optional, Article No. 1007229)
          • Place the Milk Cooler on a firm, flat surface next to the coffee machine.

            Place the Milk Cooler with at least 5 cm (2 inch) of space at its back and top, to allow warm air from condensation to escape.

          • Remove the protective foil. 

          • Remove the green cover from the nozzle on the right side of the machine

            1. Connect the milk hose to the milk input nozzle of the OptiMe coffee machine
            2. Feed the milk hose through the hole in the left side panel of the Milk Cooler.
            • Clean the Milk Cooler with warm water
            • Place the milk hose in the milk container
            • Place the milk container in the Milk Cooler and close the door.
          • Position the Milk Cooler next to the OptiMe coffee machine. 

            Optionally: use magnets (accessory, Article No. 1008139) to attach the Milk Cooler to the machine.

          • Connect the Milk Cooler to a 230 V mains power socket with the provided power cable.

            Note: Make sure that a the power supply has a capacity of at least 45 W. 

          • Do you have a ingredient box in your package? Place it on top of the Milk Cooler.

            Attention: If you have a Milk Cooler with a cup warmer on top, than the ingredient box is not included and must not be used!

            Your Fresh Milk Fridge is now installed and ready to use.

          • Switch on the Milk Cooler.

        • Milk Cooler Alignment

            This instruction shows you how to place a bracket under the milk cooler. Using the bracket can prevent damage to the milk hose if the refrigerator is moved regularly.

            This bracket (Article No. 1010325) is not supplied as standard with the machine, but must be ordered separately.

          • Unpack the package and check the contents:

            • Bracket
            • Manual (1010327)
          • Empty the milk cooler.

            Gently tilt the refrigerator back. Max 45 degrees!

            Turn left feet out.

          • Slide bracket between right foot.

          • Mount bracket with adjustable foot to the milk cooler.

          • Tilt milk cooler back on buffet

          • Slide milk cooler back against OptiMe coffee machine. Notch of bracket falls around adjustable foot of the OptiMe.

          • The machine and milk cooler are ready for use.

        • Fill the Fresh Milk System

          • Make sure the Milk Cooler is clean:

            • Clean the Milk Cooler before every refill:
              See Cleaning the Fresh Milk Fridge 
            • Clean the Milk System daily after use:
              See Cleaning the Fresh Milk System 

            Before you start, carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

          • On the front display select MENU to start.

            1. Select FILL MILK.
              The system will start the milk filling process. 
            2. Follow the instruction steps on the screen.
          • Before you start, wash your hands thoroughly or wear gloves.

            1. Open the Milk Cooler
            2. Take out the milk container 
            3. Remove the lid from the container
            1. Fill the milk container with milk (at 5 °C, max. 4 liter ).
            2. Tap next (→) on the screen.
            1. Place lid on the milk container.
            2. Place the milk hose inlet in the container. 
            1. Place milk container in the Milk Cooler
            2. Close the the door of the Milk Cooler
            3.  Tap next (→) on the screen.  
            1. Place an empty waste container below the outlet. 
            2. Tap next (→) on the screen.
          • The machine will flush and fill the milk system. Please wait..

            1. Remove the waste container. 
            2. Tap next (→) on the screen.
            1. The milk system is ready to use.
            2. Tap X (close) to go to the recipe overview.
          •  All drinks with fresh milk are now available to use.

        • Fresh Milk system cleaning before refill

          • Clean the Milk Cooler before every refill.

            Before you start:

            • Wash your hands thoroughly or wear gloves 
            • Carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.
            1. Open the Milk Cooler. 
            2. Remove the hose from the milk canister and clean the hose with wipe. 
          • Empty the milk canister.

          • Clean the canister carefully with a standard dishwasher detergent and a dish washing brush.

          • Rinse the milk canister with clean water.

          • Clean the lid of the milk canister carefully with a detergent and a dish washing brush.

          • Dry all parts

          • Clean the inside and outside of the Milk Cooler with a damp cloth.

          • Place the clean parts back into the Milk Cooler.

          • Close the door of the Milk Cooler. 

        • Fresh Milk system daily cleaning after use

          • Clean the Milk System daily after use. Cleaning the milk system takes about 8 min.   

            For the cleaning process you will need:

            • Milk cleaner solution Important: Use a cleaning solution approved by Animo. (Art.no. 1008126 )
            • Measuring cups
            • Fresh water
            • Cleaning wipe
          • Select the machine menu ☰

          • Choose CLEAN MILK SYSTEM.

          • Before you start:

            • Wash your hands thoroughly or wear gloves 
            • Carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.
            • Follow the instructions on the screen.
          • Open Milk Cooler. 

            1. Remove hose from milk canister
            2. Clean the hose with wipe.
            3. Tap next (→) on the screen.
          • Fill a measuring cup with 500 ml of clean tap water.

            1. Add the required amount of cleaning agent according to instructions on the packaging.
              Caution: Only use Milk frother cleaner approved by Animo (Art. No. 1008126 ) and follow the protective instructions on the packaging.
            2.  Tap next (→) on the screen. 

            Attention! Other cleaning agents may leave residue in the milk system!

            1. Place the hose in the cleaning solution.
            2.  Tap next (→) on the screen. 
          • Place empty container below the outlet.

            Caution: Hot steam/liquid comes out the outlet during cleaning process. 

            1. Tap next (→) on the screen. 
          • Wait while the system cleans the milk system. This will take about 4 minutes.

            1. Empty container and place it back below the outlet.
            2. Tap next (→) on the screen. 
            1. Remove the hose from the cleaning solution and clean the hose
            2.  Tap next (→) on the screen. 
          • Clean the measuring cup with dishwashing detergent.

          • Fill the measuring cup with 1 liter of clean tap water.   

            1. Place the hose in the water.
            2.  Tap next (→) on the screen. 
          • Wait while the system flushes the milk system. 

            This will take about 4 minutes.

            Caution: Hot steam/liquid comes out the outlet during cleaning process.

            2. Close the Milk Cooler door.
          • Clean the drip tray and the cover behind the cup tray.

          • The coffee machine is ready for use. 

          • Choose CLEAN MILK SYSTEM.

            • After the software started up the brewer tries to runs 1 or 2 complete cycles. When no error appears you can try to start a coffee.

            The boiler with is used for the coffee and tea is to high, the heater is disabled:

            • Open the door and press the RESET button on the screen, the machine software starts up again. A software reset takes about 2-3 minutes!

            Mixer motor stalled. The control has disabled the mixer output:

            • Mixer system (instant) blocks. Remove the mixer chamber. Clean the parts and refit the mixer parts. 
            • Open the door and press the RESET button on the screen, the machine software starts up again. A software reset takes about 2-3 minutes!
            • After the software started up try to start a instant milk/chocolate recipe. When no error appears the mixer error has been is solved.
            • When the error repeats it selves please contact your dealer to schedule a technician visit.

        • E9 Milk pump error

            The Mixer pump transports the cold milk from the fridge to the steam nozzle during the milk dispensing.

            • The milk pump motor is overloaded or will not run. The control has disabled the milk pump output.
            • Check if the internal pump gear is contaminated. Run the milk system cleaning program.  
            • Open the door and press the RESET button on the screen, the machine software starts up again. A software reset takes about 2-3 minutes!
            • After the software started up run the milk system cleaning program.
            • When the error repeats it selves please contact your dealer to schedule a technician visit.
