        This instruction will show you how to install the Optibean espresso machine.

        Attention! Installation must be carried out by an authorized Animo dealer. Your dealer will install your coffee machine and carry out the initial commissioning process.

        Before you start

        Carefully read the "Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

        Intended use of the appliance

        Animo appliances are exclusively designed for producing hot drinks. Accompanying accessories such as cup warmers are intended to be used adjacent to the appliances. All Animo appliances are intended to be installed and used indoors. All appliances are intended to be used in households and similar applications such as:

        • Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments
        • Farm houses
        • By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments
        • Bed and breakfast type environments
        • Catering and similar non-retail applications 

        All appliances must be installed, used and maintained as described in the accompanying manuals. Only use the appliance if it is in a perfect mechanical condition and only for the purpose for which it is intended.

        SAFETY

        • Before use, check the Animo appliances for completeness and damage. Damage must be repaired by Animo, Its dealer or other qualified professionals.
        • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
        • Children shall not play with the appliance.
        • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
        • All users have to understand the hazards involved in using this appliance.
        • Parts of the appliance may become very hot during use. Do not touch these parts.
      • TECHNICAL DATA

        The Optibean is designed to process whole coffee beans and powder that is suitable for automatic devices. 

        • External dimensions: 380 (W) x 515 (D) x 600 (H) mm.
        • Capacity bean hopper: 1x2.200/ 2x1.000 gr.
        • Capacity instant canisters: 1x3.8 ltr./2x1.6 ltr./ 2x0.9 & 1x1.4 ltr.
        • Use at elevation above sea level: < 2,000 M
        • Noise emission < 70 dB
        • Weight: 38 Kg.
        • Ambient conditions: humidity max. 80%, ambient temperature: 10 - 32°C.

      • Before you start:

        1. Animo recommends to use a water filter. Make sure you have one available.
        2. Make sure that the surface on which the Optibean is placed, can hold at least 50 kg.
        3. Make sure that your power supply (voltage and power) corresponds to the specification on the identification plate of the machine.

        Attention! Only use original Animo hose-sets provided with the new machine and/or the new water filter. Do not use old hoses.

      • Place the machine on a firm, flat surface.

        Note: Make sure there is enough clearance space above the machine to allow heat to escape and to fill the canisters.

        Minimum clearances:

        • Rear: 50 mm.
        • Above: 220 mm. (for filling the canisters)
        • Left: 100 mm. (for opening door)

      • Connect the hose of the water filter to the Optibean. Only use the supplied hose set.

        Requirements of the water supply:

        • Water pressure: 0.2 - 0.8 MPa (2-8 bar)
        • Flow rate: > 1 liter/min.
        • Water temperature: 0-25 °C

        Water quality:

        • Total hardness: 4 - 6° dH, 70 - 100 ppm
        • Carbonate hardness: 3 - 4 ° kH
        • Acid content/pH value: 6,5 - 8 pH
        • Chloride content (CI): 0 - 50 ppm (0 - 50 mg/L)
        • Chlorine content: 0 - 0,1 ppm (0 - 0,1 mg/L)
        • Total dissolved solids (TDS): 30–150 ppm (mg/l)
        1. Connect the water filter to the main water tap. 
        2. Set the filter by-pass to the water hardness of the local water tap point. See the water filter manual for instructions.
        1. Place the grid on the drip tray. 
        2. Place the drip tray in the machine. 
      • Do you want to connect the drip tray to a drain?

        Then follow: Connect the drip tray to a drain  

      • Place the cup tray grid.

      • Stick the canister labels for your configuration on the bean- and instant canisters.

        Stick the same labels in the back of the machine.

        For example: regular coffee beans, espresso beans, dark roast beans and creamer, chocolate or sugar.

        For special products, contact your dealer.

      • Connect the OptiBean to an earthed power socket.

        Attention! Make sure that the voltage and power requirements correspond. See identification plate on the machine for details.

      • Switch on the machine.

      • Your Optibean is installed and ready to use. 

      • Do you want to use bean canister enlargements for your Optibean?

        • Set of two rings to enlarge the bean canisters with about 2 x 400 gr. (abt. 2 x 55 cups).
        • One large ring to enlarge the bean canister with about 1,000 gr. (abt. 135 cups)

        Then follow the instruction: "Install the enlargement set for bean canisters ".

      • Do you want to reduce the content to 1x1200 or 2x600 grams?

        Then follow the instruction "Reduce the size of the bean canisters ".

    • Connect the drip tray to a drain

      • CONNECT THE DRIP TRAY TO A DRAIN

        If you want to connect the drip tray to a drain you need the accessory Drain hose (Article No. 1004945).

        Attention! Installation must be done by an authorized Animo dealer.

        The images in this instruction are for illustrative purposes only and may differ from your product.

      • Remove the drip tray from the machine.

      • At the back of the drip tray: drill a 6 mm hole in the drip tray connector.

      • Connect the drain hose to the drip tray connector.

      • Route the hose to the rear under the machine.

      • Place and fix the drain hose in your waste water drain.

    • Fill the Optibean

      • Before you start:

        • Carefully read the "Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.
        • Wash your hands thoroughly.
        • Make sure you do not touch the beans or instant products with your hands.
      • To fill the Optibean with coffee beans: 

        1. Remove the lid from the bean canister. 
        2. Read the required bean type from label on the back of the machine.
      • Fill the bean canister with the required beans. 

      • To fill the Optibean with instant product(s):  

        Open the door with the keys.

      • Lift the cover lid.

      • Turn the outlets of the instant canisters upwards.

      • Remove the instant canister from the Optibean by lifting it and pulling it forward. 

        1. Read the required instant product from label
        2. Open the lid of the canister
        3. Fill the instant canister(s) with the required product. 

        Attention! Use only powder that is suitable for automatic coffee machines.

      • Place the instant canister back in the machine. 

        Attention: Make sure that the canister connects to the rotor on the back and falls into the hole on the front.

      • Turn the canister’s outlet downwards into the mixer cup.

      • Close the cover lid and close the door. 

        The Optibean is now filled and ready to serve drinks.

    • Start using the Optibean

      • Before you start using the Optibean:

        • Carefully read the "Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.
        • Make sure the Optibean is connected to the mains power.
        • Make sure the Optibean is filled (see Fill the Optibean)

        SAFETY

        • The Animo appliances are not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
        • Children under the age of 8 are not permitted to use the appliance.
        • Children must be supervised not to play with the appliance.
        • Cleaning and user maintenance may must not be done performed by children.
        • All users have to understand the hazards involved in using this appliance. 
        • In the appliances where hot drinks are produced, do not touch the dispensing outlets during and immediately after dispensing.
        • Make sure that a suitable container, cup or mug is placed under the dispensing outlet before use.
        • Be aware that hot water is used during the coffee making process. Make sure you keep distance to avoid contact with hot water. The hot water might cause severe burns.
        • Parts of the appliance may become very hot during use. Do not touch these parts.
      • Place a cup below the outlet before selecting your coffee product.

      • Use the touch screen to select a recipe and dispense the beverage.

        Note: If your machine is equipped with a cup sensor (option), dispensing only takes place if the sensor detects a cup under the outlet.

      • Check whether the taste and quantity is as desired. 

        If the taste or quantity is not as desired, inform your dealer.

      • Repeat the previous steps for every recipe to ensure all recipes are as desired. 

        If the taste or quantity is not as desired, inform your dealer.

      • Tea water can be obtained from the right outlet.

      • To place a glass or thermos jug below the outlet:  

        1. Lower the adjustable cup tray by pushing it down.
        2. Rotate the cup tray
        3. Place the glass or thermos jug.
      • Press STOP on the display if you want to stop the brewing process.

        Caution! Do not pull away a cup or jug until the brewing is finished.

      • The Optibean is now ready to use.

    • Optibean daily cleaning

      • This instruction shows the steps for daily cleaning:  

        1. Empty and clean the waste container and trays. 
        2. Clean the coffee machine  

        Before you start, carefully read the "Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

      • On the touchscreen: Select the machine menu ☰ 

        or open the door if the menu icon is not visible.

      • Select RINSE MACHINE. 

        The steps on the screen will guide you through the cleaning procedure. 

      • Make sure that the door is locked.

        1. Place an empty container under the outlet.
        2. Tap Next on the screen to start rinsing process.
      • Wait while the system rinses the machine. This will take about 3 minutes.

      • Remove the waste water container.

        Tap Next to continue.

      • Tap Next to finish.

        Rinsing is ready.

      • Remove the cup tray grid.

      • Remove the drip tray.

        If the tray is connected to a drain, remove the hose.

        1. Clean the parts with a mild cleaner
        2. Rinse the parts thoroughly
        3. Dry all parts
      • Clean the cup tray with a damp cloth.

      • Open the machine with the key.

      • Clean the surface of the brewer with the brush.

      • Lift the handle off the spout.

        1. Remove the waste container with coffee pucks.
        2. Empty, clean and rinse the waste container.
      • Empty, clean and rinse the waste container with residual water.

      • Clean the inside of the spout with a soft cloth.

      • Clean the back cover behind the cup tray with a damp cloth.

        If you have accessories like a cup warmer, then clean them with a damp cloth as well.

      • Reinstall all parts.

        • Waste containers (sprout handle down)
        • Tray grid
        • Driptray
      • The machine is now ready to use. 

    • Optibean weekly cleaning

      • This instruction shows the steps for weekly cleaning:  

        • Clean the ingredient mixer parts 
        • Clean the bean supply parts and grinder  

        Before you start, carefully read the "Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

      • On the touchscreen: Select the machine menu ☰ 

        Or open the door if the menu icon is not visible.

      • Select CLEAN MACHINE. 

        The steps on the screen will guide you through the cleaning procedure. 

      • Open the machine with the key.

      • Open the lid.

      • Til the canister and rotate the canister outlet(s) upwards.

      • Remove the instant canisters by lifting them and pulling it forward.

        1. Remove the coffee hose.
        2. Remove coffee splitter.
      • Remove the hose(s) from the mixer bowl(s).

      • Turn the mounting ring counterclockwise to unlock the mixer bowl.

      • Remove the mixer bowl.

      • Remove the dust tray.

      • Remove the mixer fan.

      • Turn the mounting ring further clockwise.

      • Remove the mounting ring(s).

        1. Clean the parts with a mild cleaner
        2. Rinse the parts thoroughly
        3. Dry all parts

      • Clean the canister area using the brush.

      • Carefully re-place the mounting ring(s).

      • Lock the ring by rotating it clockwise.

      • Carefully position the mixer fans and press them firmly until it is in place. 

        Check whether the fans can run freely.

      • Place back the dust tray(s).

      • Place the mixer bowl(s) back in place.

      • Turn the mounting rings further clockwise to lock the mixer bowls.

        1. Place the spout and coffee splitter back.
        2. Reconnect all hoses.
      • Place the instant canister back in the machine. 

        Attention! Make sure that the canister connects to the rotor on the back and falls into the hole on the front.

      • Rotate the canister outlets downwards into the mixer bowl.

      • Close the cover lid.

      • Remove the bean funnel.

      • Clean the funnel and the grinder entrance using the brush.

      • Clean the brewer using the brush.

      • Click the bean funnel back in its position.

      • At this point the instruction on the screen may ask you to add a cleaning tablet to the brewer.    

        • If you are asked to add a cleaning tablet , continue with the next two steps. 
        • Otherwise, skip the next two steps and continue to flush the machine.  

        Note: cleaning the brewer is asked depending your previous cleaning history.

      • Get one cleaning tablet from the package.

      • Drop one cleaning tablet on the filter in the brewer. 

        1. Close the machine  
        2. Place an empty container below the outlet 
        1. Tap next (→) to continue. 
        2. Wait while the system cleans the machine. This will take about 5 minutes.  
        3. Tap next (→) to continue. 
      • Empty the waste water container  

      • Clean the back cover behind the cup tray with a damp cloth.  

        The machine is now ready to use.

      • The machine is clean and ready to use.

    • Clean the X-press brewer

      • You can easily remove and clean the brewer (only nececcary in case of malfunctioning or errors)

        • This instruction shows the steps for cleaning the brewer.

        Before you start, carefully read the "Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

      • Open door

      • Lift the handle off the spout.

      • Remove the waste containers.

      • Remove the container for residual water.

      • Remove the hoses from the brewer and from the sidewall (2x)

        1. Press and hold the edge of connector.
        2. Pull out the hose.
      • Push the locking lever of the brewer up to unlock.

      • Tilt the brewer further to the right.

      • Take the brewer out of the machine.

      • Clean the brewer under the tap.

      • Place the brewer back in the machine.

        1. Replace the waste bins.
        2. Place the sprout back to its lower position.
      • Place back the hoses to the brewer and the sidewall (2x)

      • Push the hose firmly back into the brewer.

      • Close the door.

        The machine is now ready to use. 

    • Optibean monthly cleaning

      • This instruction shows the steps for monthy cleaning:

        • Clean the instant canisters
        • Clean the bean canisters

        Before you start, carefully read the " Safety instructions and environmental information" provided with the machine.

      • Open the door with the key.

      • Lift the cover lid.

      • Rotate the canisters outlets upwards.

      • Remove both instant canister by lifting it and pulling them forward.

      • Pull the bean canister's slider forward to close the bean outlet.

        1. Remove the bean canister(s) by lifting it up.
      • Empty all canisters.

      • Remove outlet of the instant canisters.

      • Remove the ring that locks the auger, on the back side of the instant canisters.

      • Pull the auger out of the instant canisters.

      • Clean all parts:  

        • Instant canisters
        • Auger 
        • Inlet 
        • Ring 
        • Canister 
      • Dry all parts.

      • Reassemble the canister parts.

      • In the machine, clean the area of the instant canister(s) and bean canister(s) using the brush. 

        Note: The cleaning brush is found on the left side in the machine.

      • Place the bean canister(s) back in the machine. 

      • Push the bean canister's slider backward to open the bean outlet.

      • Fill the instant canister(s) with instant product as indicated on their labels. 

        Attention! Use only powder that is suitable for automatic coffee machines

      • Place the instant canister back in the machine. 

        Attention! Make sure that the canister connects to the rotor on the back and falls into the hole on the front.

      • Rotate the canister outlets downwards into the mixer bowl.

      • Close the door.

        The machine is now ready to use. 

    • Reduce the content of the bean canisters

      • Reduce the content of the bean canisters to 1x1200 or 2x600 grams.

        1. Open the door of the Optibean.
        2. Carefully remove cap out of the front bar.
      • Pull the bean canister's slider forward to close the bean outlet.

      • Remove the bean canister.

      • Unscrew and remove locking cap from the hopper.

      • Disassemble lock and move it to bottom part of bean canister.

        Repeat this step for second canister.

      • Replace the bean canister

        Push the bean canister's slider backward to open the bean outlet.

      • The machine is now ready to use.

        Select a day to set Switching times. The following options are available:

        You can set 3 time blocks per day. Choose BLOCK 1 to set first time block. The following options are available;

        You can set 3 time blocks per day. Choose BLOCK 1 to set first time block.

        Select OPERATING TIME to set the ON and OFF time from Mondays until Fridays [hour:min]

        Change OPERATING TIME with the + and - key

        00:00 = not active

        The machine will switch to standby mode outside the set times. Repeat for other days and time blocks.

      • 1.02.00.01 TIME PRICING POLICY

        If you have a Payment System activated, you can set price policy per time block here.

        Choose TIME BLOCK and set TIME PRICING POLICY.

      • 1.02.00.00.02 PRICE SELECTION

        You can set the pricing policy per time block;

        • PRICE HIGH
        • PRICE LOW
        • FREE

        Press OK to confirm.

        Different prices can be set by your dealer

      • 1.02.03 ENERGY SAVE MODE

        The machine in energy safe mode uses less energy. The recipe buttons are still active and the boiler cools down in steps of 5°C after time set.

        After choosing a recipe the machine needs some time to heat up the boiler.

        You have the following options to set the ENERGY SAFE MODE:

        • 1.02.03.00 ACTIVE
        • 1.02.03.01 TIME
        • 1.02.03.02 OPTILIGHT
        • 1.02.03.03 BOILER TEMERATURE
      • 1.02.03.00 ACTIVE

        Here you can activate the ENERGY SAFE MODE.

        • Select YES/NO

        The temperature of the boiler will drop every 30 min. with 5 °C if activated.

        Press OK to confirm.

      • 1.02.03.01 TIME

        Here you can set the time after which the boiler will cool down after the last recipe.

        Change TIME with the + and - key.

        • 15 - 240 min.

        Press OK to confirm.

      • 1.02.03.03 OPTILIGHT

        Here you can set the brightness of OptiLight (LED) during energy safe mode.

        Change brightness with the + and - key.

        • 0 - 100%

        Press OK to confirm.

      • 1.02.03.04 BOILER TEMPERATURE

        Here you can set the minimum boiler temperature during energy safe mode. OFF. The boiler is switched off.

        Change BOILER TEMPERATURE with the + and - key.

        • 60 - 75 °C

    • 1.03 RECIPE COUNTERS

      • Enter 1.0 OPERATOR MENU and select 1.03 RECIPE COUNTERS.

        Here you can read and save RECIPE COUNTERS. The following options are available:

        1.03.00 RECIPE

        1.03.01 RECIPES TOTAL

        1.03.02 SERVICE COUNTERS

        1.03.04 SAVE COUNTERS

      • 1.03.00 RECIPE

        Select 1.03.00 RECIPE to see all an overview of all recipes.

        Select a RECIPE 1.03.00.** to see all specific counters per recipe.

        The following options are available; TOTAL, FREE, PAID LOW PRICE, PAID HIGH PRICE, TEST RECIPE, TOKEN, JUG.

        Press OK to close window.

      • 1.03.01 RECIPES TOTAL

        Select 1.03.01 RECIPES TOTAL for a breakdown of the total number of recipes dispensed.

        The following options are available; TOTAL, FREE, PAID LOW PRICE, PAID HIGH PRICE, TEST RECIPE, TOKEN, JUG.

        Press OK to close window.

      • 1.03.02 SERVICE COUNTERS

        Select 1.03.02 SERVICE COUNTERS for total number of cleaning cycles and last cleaning time. The following options are available;

        1.03.02.00 RINSE

        1.03.02.01 CLEAN

      • 1.03.02.00 RINSE

        Select RINSE to read the NUMBER OF RINSE CYCLES and time and date of LATEST RINSE CYCLE.

        Press OK to close window. 

      • 1.03.02.01 CLEAN

        Select CLEAN to read the NUMBER OF CLEANING CYCLES and time and date of LATEST CLEANING CYCLE.

        Press OK to close window.

      • 1.03.04 SAVE COUNTERS

        Select 1.03.04 SAVE COUNTERS to save all counters to SD-CARD.

        If SD CARD is not present, next message will be displayed; SD CARD NOT PRESENT 

        Press OK to save.

    • 1.04 QUICK RECIPE

      • Enter 1.0 OPERATOR MENU and select 1.04 QUICK RECIPE.

        Here you can set the volume and ingredients per recipe. The possible options differ per recipe;

        • CUP VOLUME
        • BLEND 1/2
        • TOPPING
        • CHOCOLATE
        • -----

        After adjusting the recipe you can test this with the TEST button.

        • Attention! Machine will dispense hot drink after activation of the test button.

        Confirm new settings with OK.

      • 1.04.00 1 COFFEE

        Here you can adjust en test the chosen recipe.

        The following options are available:

        1.04.00.00 CUP VOLUME

        1.04.00.01 BLEND 1

        1.04.00.02 TEST

      • 1.04.00.00 CUP VOLUME

        Here you can adjust the cup volume.

        Change the CUP VOLUME with the + and - key.

        Confirm new settings with OK.

      • 1.04.00.01 COFFEE BLEND 1

        Here you can adjust the amount of coffee.

        Change the amount of coffee (BLEND 1/2) with the + and - key.

        • +20% - -20%

        Confirm new settings with OK.

      • 1.04.00.02 TEST

          • Temperature sensor problem.
